How We Help
The Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Program supports law enforcement and prosecution agencies, community-based organizations, and their partners in their work to develop comprehensive approaches to address hate crimes committed on the basis of a victim’s perceived or actual race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or disability.
The Hate Crimes TTA Program was launched in 2021 to provide evidence-based, innovative, and relevant TTA that increases jurisdictions’ capacities to form strong collaborations, build organizational capacity to lead hate crime response efforts, foster critical community partnerships and trust, enhance the identification and reporting of hate crimes, and improve the use of data to guide investigations and prosecutions. The Hate Crimes TTA Program Website is designed to complement theU.S. Department of Justice’s Hate Crimes Website. It provides easy access to a multitude of resources and serves as a centralized access point for state, local, tribal, and community-based hate crime websites and resources.
