Our Program
The Hate Crimes TTA Program is funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. The program provides tailored technical assistance, resources, and project management guidance to all Shepard-Byrd and Community-based Hate Crimes Program award recipients, other hate crimes-related award recipients, and the field. Founded in 2021, the Shepard-Byrd Hate Crimes Program supports state, local, and tribal law enforcement, prosecution agencies, and community-based organizations by facilitating training, outreach, and education of practitioners and the public as they develop comprehensive approaches to prevent, investigate, and prosecute hate crimes and assist victims and communities that are facing an increase in hate crimes.
What We Do
The Hate Crimes TTA Program provides tailored assistance to enhance the capacities of state, local, and tribal law enforcement and prosecution agencies, their partners, and community-based organizations to develop and enhance strategies that foster strong collaborations, promote community awareness and preparedness, increase victim reporting, improve responses to hate crimes, and support the investigation and prosecution of hate crimes.

With a mission of creating and delivering dynamic solutions for its criminal justice partners and communities, the IIR team includes staff members and subject-matter experts whose areas of expertise span such topics as youth violence, anti-terrorism, hate crimes, labor trafficking, community engagement, victim services, violence reduction, information sharing, data analysis, project management, training development and delivery, officer safety and wellness, and gang prevention and intervention.
Founded in 1950, the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA) is a national, nonpartisan, nonprofit membership association that provides TTA and services to prosecutors around the country in support of the prosecution profession. As the oldest and largest association of prosecutors in the country with more than 5,000 members, NDAA’s mission is to be the voice of America’s prosecutors and to support their efforts to protect the rights and safety of the people by providing its members with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to ensure that justice is attained. NDAA represents state and local prosecutors’ offices from both urban and rural districts, as well as large and small jurisdictions.
