Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Program sites are focused on developing comprehensive strategies to address and prevent hate crimes through increased public awareness and reporting of hate crimes and enhanced law enforcement and prosecution efforts to prevent and respond to hate crimes.
Collaborative Approaches Toward Preventing and Addressing Hate Crime – Demonstration Project sites are focused on developing comprehensive, larger-scale approaches for jurisdictions experiencing significant challenges with addressing and responding to precipitous or extraordinary increases in one or more types of hate crimes.
Community-based Approaches to Prevent and Address Hate Crimes Program sites are focused on establishing community-centered approaches that promote public awareness and preparedness, increase victim reporting, and improve prevention efforts and responses to hate crimes.
